How do I install 1 "glass mosaic tile on the border of my 4 x 4 porcelain tile kitchen back splash?
We are installing a 4×4 porcelain tile back splash in our kitchen. We want to add a 1×1 border trims of glass mosaic tiles to add some interest. We are not sure how so in view of the porcelain is about twice the thickness of mosaic tiles. We were concerned with just trying to build off mastic to the right thickness of the fear that we do not would succeed. How it is typically handled? I am sure that people have added mosaic tiles in with the regular ceramic tiles. How did they do?
I think you would have to use thinset not mastic. applied in 2 applications, and be sure to use white thin, there are gray if the glass is see through and make sure the thinset plain on the second coat no grooves or it will show thruogh the glass.
